Gokyo lake trek is gaining popularity day by day as it has become an alternative trek to the traditional EBC trek. Gokyo Lake trek offers you incomparable close up view of the world highest mountains like Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse Makalu and Mt. everest. This trek is famous for the exploration of the alpine glaciated lake of Gokyo up to the 4th and 5th lake and Exploration of the Ngozumpa Glacier- the largest glacier in the Nepal Himalayas. In this trek you also pass through the high passes like Gokyo Ri (5483m.).
Gokyo Lake trek commence From Lukla itself. To reach Lukla you take a 35 minutes scenic mountain flight and land in the spectacular landscape of Lukla. From Lukla you trek up to Namche Bazaar via Phakding passing through the pristine rhododendron forests and Dudh Koshi river valley. From Namche Bazar, you follow the trail upwards to Dole and Machhermo passing through the pristine forests of rhododendron and magnolia up to Goyko. As you reach Gokyo you explore the secluded glaciated Gokyo Lakes and Nilbuk Caves. You take a day rest in gokyo acclimatizing you and climb the Gokyo Ri Just above the Gokyo valley. You also cross the Cross the Cho La Pass at 5340m.and follow the trail up to the Everest Base Camp. The maximum elevation that you climb on the trek is at Kala Pathar situated at the height of (5545m.) from the sea level. The best season for Gokyo lake trek is during Feb, March, April, May, Oct, Nov, Dec.
Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
Today we spend half day for trip arrangements and Half Day Guided Kathmandu valley Sightseeing.
Take a scenic flight from Kathmandu- Lukla (2840m/9320ft)-(2610m/8560ft) and trek to Phakding for 3-4 hrs.
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11290ft) trekking for about 5-6 hrs.
Take a day rest at Namche Bazaar as Acclimatization day.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Phorste Drengka (3675m) walking for about 5 hrs a day.
Trek from Phorste Drengka to Machherma (4470m) walking for about 5 hrs a day.
Trek Machherma to Gokyo (4790m) walking for about 6 hrs a day.
Today early in the morning we climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri (5483m) the top of which reward you the stunning views of the supper Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa
Glacier and panoramic view of stunning high mountains in Khumbu such as giants as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu (8481m), Cho-Oyu (8153m) and Gychung Kang (7922m).
Today you trek up to the Gokyo 4th Lake (4843m) & 5th lake - 4998m (north of Gokyo Valley), and back to Gokyo Lake.
Trek back to Dole from Gokyo Lake walking for about 5 hrs a day.
Today you trek up to the Khumjung village, which is one of the biggest Sherpa settlements in the region.
Trek back from Khumjung village to Phakding walking for about 5 hrs a day.
Trek back to Trek back to Lukla.
Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu (1337m) via 30 – minutes of scenic mountain flight.
